Week 2, Term 1
A note from Mr Pardini
Welcome to the start of 2023! When people have asked me how the start of the school year has been, I have been replying that it was a really 'soft landing'! Thank you to all families for preparing your children so well.
As usual, the year has started with lots on the calendar, so please keep an eye on the events coming up. This year, I am encourgaing all families to continue checking SZapp for notifications. This is our best tool yet for disseminating messages to everyone and providing a 'one stop' shop for any school-wide information. We will be using this more and more (where possible), so your support engaging with this electronic medium is appreciated. Remember, it is also the easiest and most efficient way to lodge your child's absence.
Over the holidays a lot of work went into the refurbishment of our girls toilet block. Thank you to the girls who have been very patient whilst the finishing touches are put in place. We know the cubicle partitions (the last piece of the puzzle) are on their way. We hope to be using the new toilets next week.
I look forward to catching up with as many families as possible at tomorrow's P&F sundowner straight after school.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Carlo Pardini
P&F Sundowner
Tomorrow (Friday 10 February) the busy P&F have organised a 'sundowner' on the school oval. Please come along and stay and enjoy a free beef and gravy roll (courtesy of the P&F!). BYO drinks, chairs and picnic rugs until 4.30pm. This will be a great opportunity to meet any new families to our school community. If you think of it tonight, please book a free ticket (via the Feed tab on the SZapp) so we know you are coming!
Faction Swimming Carnival
Our apologies for the first change of date this year. St Brigid's Faction swimming carnival will be held on Friday 3 March (a week later than previously published) due to the pool not being available. A reminder all carnival swimming nomination forms are due Friday 17 February. This form can be found on SZapp in the Feed section.
Homework Club
It's on again! If your child is in Year 3-6 and would like to join our homework club, it commences this coming Wednesday 15 February. Homework Club is aimed at giving children a weekly opportunity to complete their homework and receive help if they need it. Thank you to Mrs Muir who supervises each session from 3.00pm until 4.oopm in the library. All your child needs to bring is their homework - this is essential! When it comes time to collect your child, you can simply park in the bus bays for easy pick-up (no later than 4pm).
What's coming up?
- Friday 17 February - Merit Certificate Assembly
- Sunday 19 February - Opening School Mass (9am)
- Wednesday 22 February - Ash Wednesday Mass (Year 5/6) 9.00am
- Friday 3 March - Faction Swimming Carnival
- Monday 6 March - Public Holiday (pupil free day)
Thank you P&F!
At the end of 2022, the P&F asked teachers for a wishlist of things they would like the committee to consider purchasing. The staff (and students) are very grateful that their wishes were granted. Thank you to our wonderful committee who agreed to purchase over $15000 worth of resources for our school. Here is what you may see if you walk around our school:
- Lego 'spike' digital coding kits used in IT
- Wooden play centre in Kindy
- New headphone sets for all children to connect to iPads
- Guillotine in the Art room
- Recycled teaching mat for the Art/Science room
- Storage solutions in PP and Year 1
- Outdoor seating and grass turf near Year 2/3
- Pots and plants to enhance our undercover area.
