A note from Mr Pardini
Confirmation Mass
What a beautiful morning to celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit to four of our Year 6 students. On Sunday, Confirmation Mass sealed Levi, Jaimee, Simona and Sam with the Gifts of the Holy Spirit as they took part in this next step of their faith journey. Bishop Emeritus Holohan, together with Father Geoff Aldous, confirmed the students in a lovely Mass. As we gathered in the hall following Mass, we enjoyed morning tea together. A huge note of thanks to Mr T and the staff who prepared both the students and the venue for this celebration as well as a special note to Mrs Milne for producing a beautiful (and yummy) cake!
West Coast Eagles 'Rock My School'
Thank you to the West Coast Eagles Community Development staff who brought this great footy program to our school over two days. Last week the Kindy to Y4 students took part in "Eagles Rock My School" followed by a skills clinic for Y1 & 2. Today the group returned to deliver a program to the Year 5 & 6 students based around 'Leadership, Resilience, Nutrition and Injury Recovery', this was followed by a practical session out on the oval.
Year 6 Human Growth and Development Sessions
Unfortunately our community nurse Mrs Felicity Lukins has been unwell over the past few weeks and so the Year 6 class has not yet commenced the series of Human Growth and Development lessons. We look forward to these starting this coming Monday 21 August. Parents, if you have any questions about these sessions, please contact the school. A letter was posted on SZapp to all year 6 Parents some weeks ago with detailed information.
Open Afternoon and Art Exhibition
We hope you can join us next Thursday 24 August to view some of the wonderful work your child has done at school. The hall will be open from 3.00pm, whilst the classes will be open at 3.30pm. This year we are starting earlier, so you can finish your night early too! Please note, we will conclude this afternoon at 5.30pm. So please make sure you arrive before this time to allow yourself the opportunity to peruse the classes and hall. At the Art Exhibition, there will be some framed collaborative whole class art pieces (Kindy through to Year 5) selling via silent auction. We have included some information flyers further along in the newsletter, as well as photos of the Year 1 and Year 3 artworks - the photos don't do them justice, so if you have time, call by the front office to view the completed works - they are stunning!
Book Week Parade
One week to go! Come along to the basketball court next Friday 25 August at 8.45am as we witness the world of books coming alive through dress-ups. This year's Bookweek theme is "Read, Grow, Inspire".
Father's Day Brekkie
In keeping with the tradition to celebrate before the 'big day' we are hosting a brekkie for our Father figures on Friday 1 September. From 7.45am, come along to school for a delicious bacon and egg roll. A mobile coffee van will be available to purchase a coffee. Please refer to the flyer below as our P&F are also hosting a raffle on this morning with some great prizes. This event promises to be 'BIG' once again!
Long Service Leave
Please note, I will be away for the remainder of this term as I take a period of long service leave. Over the next five weeks I am excited about travelling to Europe with my wife and two daughters, which, when I think about it, has come around very quickly! Until the end of term, Mrs Mandie Muir will assume the role of Acting Principal. I am thankful to Mrs Muir and the entire staff who are flexible in their work patterns to allow leave to happen. I am very comforted knowing the school is in great hands with our awesome staff while I am away.
Have a wonderful remainder to the term everyone, take care, and I look forward to seeing you all on my return for the start of Term 4!

Homework
To support parents and ensure you're informed regarding homework, we have compiled some information surrounding the value of providing homework, the support we can offer and the guidelines of what to expect for varying year levels. We encourage parents to read this information and if you would like to discuss this any further, please feel free to contact the school.
eSafety
Last term we hosted an eSafety workshop for parents, students and teachers. To keep informed of this important aspect of our children's lives today, we will endeavour to post regular articles in our school newsletter from the eSafety Commissioner. This week we have included an article with a focus on cyberbullying and young people.
