A note from Mr Pardini
Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 4!
We have started off our first week action packed with our Year 5 Camp in Margaret River. In case you are wondering "where is Mr Pardini this week?", (no I am not still overseas), I have been at our Year 5 Camp since Wednesday!
I would like to take this opportunity to thanks Mrs Mandie Muir who took on the role for the last 5 weeks of Term 3 as Acting Principal in my absence. Along with the entire team of staff at St B's I am truly grateful that I had the peace of mind the school was in capable hands while I was away.
It is great to be back and I look forward to the final term of the school year; whilst it is always busy and leads into a hectic time of year, it is also full of excitement and a time to reflect on the year.
As of next Monday 16 October, all students must wear a school hat during recess and lunch as per our "NO HAT NO PLAY" policy. Any child that does not have a hat will have to remain in a shaded area and will not be allowed on the playground or oval. School hats can be purchased online via CDF Pay or directly from the front office. Thank you for your support with this.
A reminder to all parents that copies of our Term 4 Calendar of Events were sent home at the end of Term 3, if you require a copy please come into the office (we have also included a copy in the newsletter). Don't forget you can sync the SZapp calendar to your smartphone.
I wish everyone a wonderful weekend and I'll see you outside the front of the school next Monday morning!
Carlo Pardini
Principal
Year 5 Camp
Our Year 5 class has started Term 4 with a fun few days on their camp in the Margaret River area.
There were lots of activities organised to keep everyone busy (and very tired) over the course of the three days.
We kept Isabella in our prayers, after she suffered a broken arm on the first day of camp. I know everyone is looking forward to seeing her back at school soon.
Thanks to Mrs Price and Mrs Tuck for organising the camp. We were very appreciative of the time Mrs Caporn and Mr Hoar gave as parent helpers as well - thank you for taking time away from your own families and time off work to come along.
Here are just a few pictures from the week, there are lots more, and we look forward to presenting them to you in our next edition.
Monkey Bars
Our new monkey bars have been installed in the Kindy/PP playground. This new equipment aims to build core strength and balance in our younger years.
Socktober PBS rewards
Socktober is on this coming TUESDAY 17th October. For a gold coin donation, students can wear some funky / favourite socks and join our school leaders to kick some goals at lunchtime. The money raised supports Catholic Mission’s projects in Timor-Leste including a medical clinic and children’s home in the village of Venilale.
Positive Behaviour Rewards
This term students from PP - 6 have chosen some great rewards to use with their tokens. The first prize they are aiming for is a chance to wear their own hat or cap. The second reward is extra play and the third choice is an icy treat. Finally their most important choice involves working with their faction to create cubby houses and shelters in our playground.
Jumps & Throws
The date for our Faction Athletics Jumps & Throws has been changed to Tuesday 31 October. Thank you to parents who have offered to help out. Given the change of date for this day we appreciate this may impact some parents availability to assist at our jumps and throws - we will be in contact regarding this.
Blues Weekend - Helpers!
The annual Bridgetown Blues Festival weekend is fast approaching and as with every year we will be hosting camping on our school oval for over 100 campers! This will take place from Friday 10 Nov to Monday 13 Nov. Every year we call upon our parent body to volunteer some time over this weekend, with the usual jobs such as check-ins on Friday afternoon and evening, cooking breakfast Saturday & Sunday mornings, pack-up Monday morning. Next week we will be sending out a volunteer roster.
In addition to the weekend roles we will require assistance on Monday 6 & Tuesday 7 November to assist in marking out camp sites on the oval.
Operation Christmas Child
Thank you to all our families who have generously contributed to this wonderul intiaitive, it is really appreciated.
We are nearly ready to be finish our shoebox gifts, before we do this we are just asking for some additional donations of colouring pencils and colouring books as well as some children's underwear for ages 5+.
Operation Christmas Child is an opportunity to gift presents to children in need who live around the world.
