Thursday 2 November, 2023 (Week 4)
A note from Mr Pardini
Dear Families,
Faction Athletics Carnival
It's going to be a warm day! Please ensure your child has a water bottle for our Faction carnival on Friday. Our canteen manager, Mrs Banks has stocked up on icy poles which will be for sale during the lunch time break. Thank you to the P&F for hosting the cake stall on this day. To download the full program of the day, please click the link below.
I look forward to a fun day with lots of cheering for your favourite faction!
AGM
It's that time of year again where our school parent committees call for nominations for 2024. We are looking for interested parents to join either the School Advisory Council or our P&F (Parents and Friends). On Tuesday 28 November at 6.00pm we will hold our school AGM where both these committees present a summation of the year. The AGM is held in our library, followed by light refreshments. If you would like to know more about either of these committees, please don't hesitate to ask. Nominations must be made to join committees via our school app SZapp - you can even nominate yourself if you wish! If you are nominated, you simply turn up to the AGM and we take it from there. Please consider taking on a role in our school in either committee!
Blues weekend
Thank you to those families who have already taken up the P&F call for help at this fundraiser. For more information, look at the 'Blues 2023 Volunteers' reminder which was posted on SZapp on Tuesday. This year St Brigid's Years 4-6 students will be walking up to Bridgetown Primary school for a free concert on the Friday before the Blues. What a way to see the Blues weekend in!
Pupil Free Days
A reminder to all our families, we will once again follow the Blues weekend with two pupil free days in Week 6 of this term. Please note Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 November the school will be closed. School will resume on Wednesday 15 November in this week.
School uniform update for 2024
Many of you may have missed the update regarding our sports uniform and I just want to repeat some of the important information again in this newsletter edition to make sure you have read it. If you missed it, please read further in this newsletter for information about purchasing sports uniforms in the future. A visual 'story board' of our sport uniform is included below.
From the commencement of 2024, all children will be expected to wear a navy blue school sock which will be available to purchase from our uniform shop. This sock has been custom made for our school and includes our schools’ colours as a band (pictured below). All students will no longer be wearing white socks with the sport uniform. The decision to move to a darker sock will hopefully help with the practical side of washing but will ultimately provide consistency to the whole school and raise the profile of the sports uniform.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Sport Uniform update
We have commenced the transition into our new design sports polo and faction polo shirts. Our first order of stock has been limited to replinishing sizes where we had zero or low stock. These items are available to purchase via CDFpay online or in the front office. For your reference, these shirts are listed as our "sublimated" design.
Additional stock will become available for the commencement of the 2024 school year. We are aiming for a complete transition into these new shirts by 2025, giving us a full twelve months of still being able to wear the older style.
As we are still carrying stock of some sizes of the older style (sport shirt and faction polo), we have made the decision to signifciantly reduce the sale price to $15 per shirt. Please note, this price is applicable ONLY to the older style shirts. The new design polo sell for $35 each.
'Meal bank' cook-up
Our Year 5/6 classes have recently been 'cooking up a storm' in the kitchen! The classes have embarked on a massive project to stock the Parish meal bank kitchen with food items ready to send out to families in need. After 3 afternoons of cooking, the meal bank freezer is fully stocked. Thank you to all students for your time preparing and cooking meals. We could not have done this without the assistance of our wonderful parents. A huge thanks to Mrs Price for taking on the coordination of this project. In total, the combined classes made approximately 120 meals.
Gardening Club
This week at the 'Garden Shop' you will find tomato plants, beetroot and artichoke for sale. This week we harvested our garlic, weeded and mulched some of our garden beds.
Operation Christmas Child
Over the last few weeks, we have given our St Brigid's community the opportunity to donate items to Christmas boxes for children overseas.
THANK YOU so much to those of you who were able to donate. This meant we were able to fill 14 boxes to send overseas from our school.
These children rarely receive a gift like this, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute. If you would like more information, please visit: www.occ.samaritanpurse.org.au
Thank you, Mrs Turner, for coordinating this wonderful charitable initiative.
Nominations P&F and School Advisory Council
A "tile" has been added to the homepage (bottom right) on SZapp. This will direct you to the nomination form. Please consider being part of either of these committees, they are not demanding roles; our P&F meets twice a term and the School Advisory Council once per term (as per new terms of reference). Your involvement is the best way to have both insight and input into our school and work collaboratively as genuine partners in your child's education.
