Thursday 16 November, 2023 (Week 6)
A note from Mr Pardini
Dear Families,
Welcome back to a very short week! I hope everyone capitalised on an extra long weekend after the Blues.
Congratulations Emily!
Well done to Emily Butler who was our next recipient of the MJR award. When you see the photo of Emily below I am sure you will agree...her smile says it all! Here's what was written on Emily's certificate:
Congratulations on always being an integral part of our school. Emily is a beautiful human being! You always try your best. If you lose at a competition, you take the time to congratulate your peers, even in the face of your own disappointment – what a champion you are! Thank you for coming to school with a smile on your face everyday and brightening up our world! ‘THANK YOU!’
Blues Weekend
A massive thank you to all our parents (and staff) who supported the weekend and made it the success it was. Our P&F once again catered for over 160 campers on our oval and fed them a scrumptious breakfast. Lots went on behind the scenes, including a pack away on Monday and checking campers in on Friday till late in the evening. So, if you were one of our parents who helped this year, we truly thank you.
Interschool Sports carnival
We look forward to seeing you on Friday 24 November (on our oval) for this year's Interschool Carnival. St Brigid's will be welcoming St Mary's, Boyup Brook DHS Primary and Balingup Primary School. Our P&F will be hosting a cake stall and they have also organised for a coffee van to be on site, so you can enjoy a barista made coffee!
Swimming Lessons
A reminder to all families, please return the swimming permission form that was sent home this week. All children from Pre-primary to Year 6 will complete a fortnight of lessons starting this coming Monday 20 November. As we have done in the past, we ask all children to wear sports uniform for the next two weeks for an easier way to get in and out of bathers. Apologies to those students who will be attending the Interschool carnival on Friday, but you will lose a day of lessons.
AGM - Tuesday 28 November at 6.00pm
Please come along to our end of year Annual General Meeting of the P&F and School Advisory Council. We hold this meeting in our library from 6.00pm. Following the meeting you are invited to stay for a drink and some nibbles. We are chasing nominations for roles on both committees, so if you are interested, we would love you to nominate. Please note, all nominated parents are required to attend the AGM as part of the nomination process. We look forward to seeing you there.
Performing Arts Award
Congratulations to the following students who received a special mention from Mrs Watts at our recent assembly for their performances.

Principal
Swimming Lessons
Swimming Lessons commence Monday 20 November for students in PP to Y6. All forms MUST be handed in by tomorrow!
Scitech Incursion
Tomorrow, Friday 17 November we welcome Scitech to St Brigid's who will deliver a Science Show and Workshops for our PP to Y6 students. Their program will include hands on scientific investigations and explorations and use scientific thinking to explore surprising mysteries including gravity-defying, colour-changing and mind-bending demonstrations! This fun and exciting program has been time tabled throughout the day for our PP to Y6 students.
Nominations P&F and School Advisory Council
Thank you to the parents who have submitted a nomination for our P&F or School Advisory Council. It is not too late to submit a nomination to either of these committees. Your involvement is the best way to have both insight and input into our school and work collaboratively as genuine partners in your child's education.
St Vincent De Paul Christmas Hampers
Each year, we ask our families to donate items towards St Vincent De Paul Christmas Hampers to be provided to families within our community.
St Brigid’s Parish call for nominations of families who may appreciate some assistance for the festive season by way of a groceries hamper. If you know a family in our community who may benefit from some extra ‘Christmas cheer’ please contact the school. Calls will be dealt with in a confidential manner and names forwarded onto the St Brigid’s Parish Christmas hamper committee.
In the meantime, please see below the items as per year group that we ask to be brought into school over the next few weeks. Boxes will soon be available outside each classroom for items to be placed into.
