Monday 12 February, 2024 (Week 3)
A note from Mr Pardini
Dear Families,
Apologies for our newsletter coming out late. It was such a busy start to the term, we wanted to include as much as possible for everyone.
Even though the year has well and truly commenced, welcome to the start of 2024! A huge thank you to both staff and parents for making the start of this year such a smooth transition for all children.
On the first day of school the teachers ran a quick parent talk after school to cover some of the basics of the year ahead. If you missed this opportunity, please make contact with the teachers to receive the paper handout which has all the information covered at this talk.
As usual, the year has started with lots on the calendar, so please keep an eye on the events coming up. A reminder to all families, please remember to 'manage the settings' in SZapp to ensure you have changed your child's grade to their latest year. This will ensure you are always receiving the latest information pertinent to your child's year group.
Lenten Season
This week marks the start of the season of Lent. Tomorrow all students will be looking forward to eating some pancakes for Shrove Tuesday. This day is part of an old tradition where people would use up ingredients in their homes which they were not allowed to eat during the fasting period of Lent (approximately 40 days). Wednesday is Ash Wednesday (the official start to Lent). Ash Wednesday Mass will be celebrated in the church at 9.00am for all children in Year 3/4/5 and 6. Please feel free to join us for this Mass.
Commissioning Mass
Last week we celebrated our school Opening and Commissioning Mass. At this mass, our Head Boy and Head Girl (Hudson and Daisy) as well as Faction Captains (Ella, Hamish, Harrison and Charlotte) were presented to the entire community and received their badges. I know they will proudly be wearing their badges as part of their school uniform from now on.
Pre-Primary
Over the holidays a lot of work went into the refurbishment of our Pre-Primary entry. Once the remaining bag hooks are in place, the area will be complete -thank you for your patience with these and I hope you enjoy the newly refurbished space.
P&F
We had a great first meeting of our P&F last week, with lots covered. The committee is very keen to source a parent rep from each class. If you think you may be the 'go to' person for your child's class, please take the time to contact one of our P&F Committee members who will help you with what to do. See the flyer below for more information.
COVID
There are a number of COVID cases presenting in and around school. As we do not report cases, your vigilance in keeping children who are unwell at home is appreciated. If your child presents with cold and flu symptoms, please do not send them to school. If there are a number of cases within a particular class group, we will inform individual groups via SeeSaw. This is for your information so you can remain 'extra-vigilant' with healthy practices at home. At school, we continue to offer hand sanitiser as well as reminders to all children to wash their hands. Thank you for your continued support with this.
I hope the start of this week has gone well for you all.
