Thursday 9 May, 2024 (Week 4)
A note from Mr Pardini
Dear Families,
Congratulations Ryda!
At our assembly last week, we awarded the next recipient of our MJR (Making Jesus Real) award. The well-deserved recipient was Ryda Perkins-Bullock from Year 6. I wish I had taken a photo of his face when his name was called, which was the look of total surprise. Although surprised, we were all not surprised as eventually we knew this award would find Ryda. Congratulations Ryda on being our next school legend! Here's what was written on his certificate which I think sums him up....
Congratulations on being such an important part of our school. Ryda always comes to school ready to learn and prepared to work as part of a team. Your approach to school is always with a healthy attitude and you tackle everything that comes your way. You are such a great role model for the younger grades. Thank you for making St Brigid’s a great community and making our days fun!
Colour Fun Run
Thank you everyone for a sensational Fun Run! Your efforts have raised $9000 for the school which is an awesome result. Last Friday was a day full of colour and laughter as everyone entered the spirit of the moment. A big thanks to Mr and Mrs Beesley who gave their time on Friday to ensure the event ran smoothly and assisted before, during and after the Fun Run -thank you! Prizes can now be claimed, we have extended the cut off date to Wednesday 15 May. For any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
On Wednesday, we welcomed a new staff member - Principal for the day, Miss Charlotte Jewel. Charlotte won the draw as one of our highest fundraisers for the Fun Run and enjoyed a day out of class as our school principal. You can read all about Charlotte's day below, which includes information about a free dress day that she introduced for later in the term!
Mother's Day Breakfast
What a beautiful morning! Thank you Mums and Grandmothers for coming to enjoy breakfast at school. A huge 'shout out' to the St Bs staff who had a very early start to ensure the morning was a success. On behalf of the P&F, thank you for supporting the raffle which saw three mums walk away with a prize. Congratulations to all our winners (see results below). To all our Mums, may you enjoy all the blessings of a Happy Mother's Day on Sunday.
School Advisory Council Meeting
A reminder to our Council, we meet this coming Tuesday 14 May at 6.00pm in the staffroom. Please contact the school for your RSVP to this meeting.
Bridgetown High School Session
We recently had the Principal from Kearnan College visit our school and talk with the Year 6 students. Next week, we welcome Mrs Carol Thorsby (Principal of Bridgetown High School) to also talk with the class and any interested parents. Mrs Thorsby will talk to all Year 6 students at 2.30pm on Thursday 16 May in the Year 6 classroom. Parents are more than welcome to come and meet the Principal or ask questions.
Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
Carlo Pardini
Principal
A note from Miss Jewel!
The first thing I did was stand at the front of the school and greet people as they arrived. I also went on duty and handed out some tokens. At a mini-assembly, I said that there will be a free dress on Monday 10 June. All children can come to school on this day wearing casual clothes!
I prepared some of the food items for the Mother's Day breakfast with Mrs Harrison in the afternoon. One of the things I did was hand out tokens to students in year 4 who were wearing the correct uniform.
I had a great day and I am thankful for being the 'Principal of the Day' and having the experience with the kids as their Principal.
