Thursday 1 August, 2024 (Week 3)
A note from Mrs Barber!
Dear Families,
The winter weather, albeit a bit wild, has seen the creeks running and dams and tanks filled – a welcome relief for many families. Luckily, despite the rain, students are still managing to get outside to play.
Confirmation Mass – Daisy, Hudson and Oliver have been preparing for Confirmation on Sunday 11 August at 9.00am. We invite all families to join us to witness this special ceremony and bring a plate of food to enjoy afterwards at our Parish morning tea.
Soup Van Appeal – next week is the final week to bring in some cans – either meals in a can or soup. We are getting closer to reaching our goal of 200 cans and your generosity to the community is appreciated.
Book Week – To kick off our celebration of literature, we have a visiting author, Steve Heron providing some workshops to the students on Friday 16th August. The following week, we will showcase some of our favourite characters with our ‘Dress-up Parade’ on Tuesday 20th August.
Friendology UR Strong online session. Please pop this date into your diary, Tuesday 20 August at 6.00pm. The free session will run for just over an hour and will provide a wealth of knowledge to help you support your child to have strong, positive friendship skills. Please register on the link included in this newsletter.
MJR – Well done Mrs Elam for being the latest recipient to receive our MJR award. Xavier the Bear has taken pride of place in Mrs Elam’s workroom and is enjoying all the student visitors who avail of Mrs Elam’s support. Well done, Mrs Elam, your make an amazing difference to all of us here at St Brigid’s.
Have a wonderful weekend ahead.

Squash Incursion
On Tuesday during PE lessons, our students were given the opportunity to participate in playing squash. Thanks to Mike Cornish who provided the inflatable "squash courts". Safe to say the kids all seemed to enjoy themselves!
Parish 'Paving Brick' Fundraiser
To commemorate the 120th anniversary year of St Brigid's Parish, we are delighted to share with our community this exciting fundraising project. We encourage all families with past or present links to our School and Parish to take advantage of this historical opportunity by purchasing a personalised brick paver that will be laid within a new pathway near the church and convent. Please see below for more information or contact the school office directly for an order form.
