Thursday 15 August, 2024 (Week 5)
A note from Mrs Barber!
Dear Families,
It is with great excitement that I announce that Mr Pardini will be back from his leave next week. We have definitely missed his presence and am sure he will have lots of stories about his travels. Thank you to our St Brigid’s staff who have been wonderful and supportive to ensure that things continue to run smoothly.
Confirmation- Last Sunday at Mass, Daisy, Hudson & Oliver, celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation. It was wonderful occasion, which was followed by a lovely morning tea celebration in the hall. Thank you to everyone who came to support these students including their faith friends.
Science Week – Today at lunch students had the chance to be little ‘scientists’. Four challenges were set up, allowing them to experiment, observe, explore and problem solve. The photos below have captured all the clever thinking and collaborative efforts. Thank you to our Year 6 leaders, Charlotte, Austin, Louis, Teddy, and Winter and our helpful scientists Elodie (Year 5) and Stella (Year 2).
- What can you see?
- How can you make the paper spin?
- How can you make the plasticine float?
- What happens when you mix bicarb and vinegar?
Tomorrow is the Science Competition for Louis, Austin, Charlotte and Hudson. We hope they have an inspiring experience under the care of Mrs Kerr and Mrs Elam.
Bunbury Soup Van - a thank you to all families for the great support of this charity. Ingrid visited us and explained to us the impact these donations make to families who are in need. We reached our target of 200 cans!
Book Week – We know many families will be busy on the weekend as they put the final touches on costumes for our Book Week Parade on Tuesday 20th August. We pray for fine weather as we plan to assemble on the basketball courts at 8.50 am. Tomorrow we look forward to our visiting author, Mr Steve Heron running some author workshops with our classes.
Friendology UR Strong Next week, Tuesday 20 August at 6.00pm, is the online parent session. The free session will run for just over an hour and will provide a wealth of knowledge to help you support your child to have strong, positive friendship skills. Please register on the link included in this newsletter.
Assembly - Year Threes are busy preparing for their assembly, Friday 23rd at 8.45pm in the hall.
‘TREE’ meeting – Mrs Milne and Mrs O’Neill (our wonderful Year Three and Four teachers) travelled to St Mary’s, Donnybrook last Wednesday to participate in a Maths focused, networking opportunity. Meeting other teachers and sharing ideas is a great way to ensure that we continue to provide engaging learning for our students.
Have a wonderful weekend ahead.
