Thursday 8 August, 2024 (Week 4)
A note from Mrs Barber!
Dear Families,
Today (8th August) is the feast day of Mary of the Cross MacKillop and it leads me to reflect on the dedication and drive that Mary displayed towards the education of all children, no matter what their circumstances. Mary was truly inspiring, and it was wonderful to see her celebrated in the Pre-Primary, Year One and Two liturgy on Wednesday.
Confirmation Mass – Year Six class have been completing a project about inspiring Saints as part of their studies. Daisy, Hudson and Oliver will be confirmed under their chosen Saints name on Sunday 11 August at 9.00am. Daisy chose Saint Clare of Assisi; Hudson, Saint Francis and Oliver, Saint Peter. We invite all families to join us to witness this special ceremony and bring a plate of food to enjoy afterwards at our Parish morning tea.
Science Week – Next week is National Science week. On Thursday 15th, our students will enjoy some hands-on Science during their lunchtime. Then on Friday, under the watchful eyes on Mrs Kerr and Mrs Elam, four of our Year Six students will participate in an inter-school Science competition at East Manjimup Primary School. They will have quizzes, puzzles and an investigation to complete. We wish them all the best for this.
Book Week – The ‘Dress-up Parade’ is on Tuesday 20th August. We hope for fine weather as we plan to assemble on the basketball courts.
Friendology UR Strong online session. Please pop this date into your diary, Tuesday 20 August at 6.00pm. The free session will run for just over an hour and will provide a wealth of knowledge to help you support your child to have strong, positive friendship skills. Please register on the link included in this newsletter.
Uniform – We are currently transitioning our uniform into “smart play” for 2025 and for this reason we have allowed some flexibility with uniform items for the remainder of 2024. However, please ensure all items being worn are part of our St Brigid’s school uniform range. Students wear the sports uniform Monday, Tuesday and Friday and the formal uniform on Wednesday and Thursday. For clarification on the uniform please refer to the visual including in the newsletter. If your child needs to amend their uniform in any way, please ensure they have a note to explain this.
Have a wonderful weekend ahead.

Parish 'Paving Brick' Fundraiser
To commemorate the 120th anniversary year of St Brigid's Parish, we are delighted to share with our community this exciting fundraising project. We encourage all families with past or present links to our School and Parish to take advantage of this historical opportunity by purchasing a personalised brick paver that will be laid within a new pathway near the church and convent.
