Thursday 30 August 2024 (Week 7)
A note from Mr Pardini!
Dear Families,
Father's Day Brekkie - A huge thanks you to the staff who came to school bright and early this morning to cook up a Father’s Day feast! It was great to see so many of our families at school. I hope all our Father figures enjoyed the morning at school with their children. Thank you also to our wonderful P&F for organising a raffle. Here are our raffle winners:
- 1st Prize: Luke Hollemans ($1200 Crown Hotel voucher)
- 2nd Prize: Tom Butler (Weber BBQ kindly donated by Richfeeds)
- 3rd Prize: Xavier Burriss ($250 Mitre 10 voucher)
TREE Talks - Well done to all the Year 4, 5 & 6 students who presented their TREE talk at the St Brigid's semifinal round on Tuesday, you should all feel proud of your efforts. Congratulations to the following students who have been selected to attend the Regional 'Grand' final, hosted this year at St Joseph's Pemberton on Thursday 12 September. Good luck to all students!
- Year 4: Finn Banks and Emily Butler
- Year 5: Millie Puljiz and Charlie Giblett
- Year 6: Daisy Glancy and Ryda Perkins-Bullock
Open Afternoon & Art Exhibition - Plans are well and truly underway for this annual event. Please make sure you clear the afternoon of Tuesday 10 September in your diaries so you can attend. The classes will be prepared to showcase your child's work from 3.30-5.30pm. We will also have the school hall open from 3.00pm - 5.30pm for you to view the display of wonderful art.
Feast Day- Thank you to Mrs Barber and the staff for organising a day of fun activities for this coming Monday for Feast Day. The children will rotate around several activities in small faction groups to celebrate the charism of being part of a Mercy school. Spring is the time to celebrate this occasion, as this is the feast day of our patron saint - St Brigid of Kildare.
Native Forest Grant - Last term our school applied for a grant as a stimulus to begin work on covering our basketball court (which as you can imagine, is a costly exercise). We applied for Round 2 funding of the Native Forest Community Small Grants Fund. I am pleased to announce that on Wednesday we were informed that we have been successful and have been awarded $100,000. This money will be put towards a cover for our court area, with the grand plan to include power, lighting and a resurface of the court surface. I would like to call for any interested parents who may like to be a part of a sub-committee to assist with the planning and conversation about this venture (I promise you won't be inundated with meetings). If you think you would like to join and be a part of a team for this exciting project, I look forward to hearing from you.
Pupil Free Day - A reminder, Friday 6 September is a pupil free day for our school. The staff will be at school as they complete necessary Religious Education Accreditation training.
Have a wonderful weekend.
