Thursday 24 October 2024 (Week 3)
A note from Mr Pardini!
Dear Families,
Congratulations Miina - It was a pleasure to present our latest MJR award to a very deserving students. Congratulations to Miina-May Varnavides who was all smiles (and giggles) when she received the award. Well done on making 'MJR' alive in our school Miina! Here is what was written on her certificate:
"Thank you for all you give to our school. You always show amazing respect to anyone and everyone. You are the first person to offer ‘a shoulder for others to lean on’ when they are having a tough day. Miina, you give yourself into everything which means 100% effort! Thank you for bringing your smile into St Brigid’s every day to go with your beautiful MJR ‘spirit’.
School Photo Day - Thank you to all families for your support of our final 'formal' uniform school photo. I really appreciate everyone 'digging deep' to find items that your child may not have worn all year as we transition to our new smart play uniform in 2025. We look forward to seeing the photos when they arrive in the coming weeks.
Socktober - Thank you Mrs Barber for coordinating our Missions Week activities, today. Lots of children wore 'fun' socks to school which made everyone look very colourful. There was a whole school liturgy in the church with the prayer focus being for the people of Mongolia (this year's focus country). At lunch time, students shared an icy-pole and played soccer using soccer balls the Year 4's made using recycled materials with Mrs Kerr during Design Technology. Thank you for taking part today and raising money to support the struggling communities in Mongolia for Catholic Missions!
State Cross Country - We wish our St Brigid's competitors the best of luck as they compete in the State Cross Country championships in Perth tomorrow. You may recall, this event was postponed due to poor weather back in August. We look forward to sharing your cross country stories in next week's newsletter.
St Bs Faction Carnival - We are getting everything ready for an 'action-packed' carnival season! Here's what is coming up next week:
- Tuesday 29 October - Jumps and Throws Carnival
- Friday 1 November - Track events and team games.
We will be hosting both the jumps and track events on our school oval. The early forecast for next week is for some very sunny and warm days, so please ensure your child leaves home with sunscreen applied. Our diligent P&F will be catering a cake stall on the Friday.
This year our canteen will offer a sausage sizzle lunch order for Friday's athletics carnival for all students and families. Very soon, you will be able to pre-order using CDF pay. Please note, there will not be other canteen items available on the day of the sports carnival.
Unfortunately for me, this will be the first track sports carnival that I won't be able to attend, as there has been a clash with a Primary Principal day in Bunbury for me that I need to be present at. I am disappointed that I won't be able to share the excitement of this day with everyone, but I know Mrs Beesley and the staff will organise a great day. A detailed program will be pushed out via SZApp soon so you have some idea of the order of events. Good luck to all competitors at the carnival.
Staff on leave - Next week marks the return of Mr Ternent who will return from his European holiday. We look forward to welcoming Jamie back on Wednesday and hearing all his 'holiday tales'. Next week, Mrs Kerr (Science and IT teacher) embarks on a trip overseas for three weeks. We wish Mrs Kerr a wonderful holiday with family and safe travels.
Have a great weekend everyone!
