Thursday 7 November 2024 (Week 5)
A note from Mr Pardini!
Dear Families,
Faction Athletics Carnival - A big thank you to Mrs Beesley for yet again organising a fantastic Faction Athletics Carnival. As with all years, the carnival was spread over two days, with the Y1-6 jumps/throws and Y3-6 400m running taking place last Tuesday followed by the main carnival day on the Friday. I am still getting over not being there as it really is a wonderful day of fun-filled competition for our students. Thanks also to Mrs Banks for providing a sausage sizzle for lunch, our wonderful P&F and Year 1 parents for hosting an amazing coffee and cake stall throughout the day. It is wonderful to see our families supporting the event, helping out with various jobs so the day runs smoothly and being there to support the children.
Every year we award the Declan Kane Spirit of St Brigid's award; this year Grace Thomas in Year 6 was the recipient of this special award. Congratulations Grace, thank you for participating in the spirit of trying your hardest, encouraging and supporting all those around you.
Lastly, congratulations to Quinn/Red Faction on winning the shield! Individual results are published further in this newsletter - well done to everyone!
Swimming lessons - it has been unfortunate to have our Term 4 swimming lessons cancelled (although, with the cool weather this week perhaps a blessing in disguise)? The good news is that we are currently in communication with Swimming WA and things are looking positive for lessons to go ahead in Term 1 2025. As soon as we know further information we will pass this on to all families.
Annual Community Meeting (ACM) - On Tuesday 26 November at 6.00pm we will hold our school Annual Community Meeting (ACM), [formerly known as the Annual General Meeting], in our school library. At this meeting both the P& F and School Advisory Council present a summation of the year and nominations for vacant positions on these committees will be presented and filled. If you would like to know more about either of these committees, please don't hesitate to ask. Nominations must be made to join committees via our school app SZapp - you can nominate yourself or someone else. All nominees will need to be present at the meeting. All parents are welcome to attend this meeting, and we conclude this meeting with light refreshments.
Blues weekend - Thank you to those families who have taken up the P&F call for help at this fundraiser, your time ensures the smooth running of our largest annual fundraiser. This year St Brigid's Years 3-6 students will be walking up to Bridgetown Primary school for a free concert tomorrow before the Blues at 11.45am.
Pupil Free Days - A reminder to all our families, we will have two pupil free days following the Blues weekend. Please note Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 November the school will be closed. School will resume on Wednesday 13 November in this week.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Talent Show
You may have heard your child mention a school talent show - yes, we will be hosting this in week 7. Parents, please note, this is a student led and self-driven opportunity to celebrate individual interests and skills; they do not require costumes or any outside of school practice. All student performances will be showcased during lunch times to their student peers, and not to the wider school community. It's about fun, creativity, recognising and cherishing all our students have to offer. Students are aware of how to sign up if they wish to take part. Thank you Mrs Watts for coordinating this!
St Brigid's School Choir
Our school choir will be singing for the residents at Geegeelup Village on Thursday 21st of November.
We will also open the Bridgetown Ag Show at 1pm Saturday 23rd November where we will be singing the National Anthem along with three other songs.
Notes and more information regarding these upcoming events will be coming home to the students who are in our school Choir group.
