Week 6, Term 4
A note from Mr Pardini
Blues Weekend
A massive thank you to all our parents (and staff) who supported the weekend and made it the success it was. Our P&F once again catered for over 150 campers on our oval and fed them a scrumptious breakfast. Lots went on behind the scences, including a packaway on Monday and checking campers in on Friday till late in the evening. So, if you were one of our parents who helped this year, we truly thank you.
Facebook photos
May I take this opportunity to remind all families, if you take photos of children at events (such as our recent sports carnival), please only post photos to social media of your own children. The exception to this is if you attain permission from other parents when posting a group photo. Our newsletter is a subscribed platform where only those who we allow can see the publications. So from time to time, we do publish photos of our children. Social media accounts, such as facebook require parental permission even if posting to the 'Parents of St Bs' page. Thank you for your continued diligence with this.
Interschool Sports carnival
We are pleased to have a rescheduled date for our Interschool carnival. We look forward to seeing you at Boyup Brook on Tuesday 22 November. Please note, all details remain the same (such as bus transport, lunch orders, program of events).
Swimming Lessons (Yr 3/4/5)
A reminder to all children in Years 3/4/5, next week you are to wear sports clothes all week for an easier way to get in and out of bathers. Apologies to those students who will be attending the Interschool carnival on Tuesday, but you will lose a day of lessons in what is an already short in-term course.
AGM - Tuesday 29 November at 6.00pm
Please come along to our end of year Annual General Meeting of the P&F and School Advisory Council. We hold this meeting in our library from 6.00pm. Following the meeting you are invited to stay for a drink and some nibbles. Below is a link to the nomination form for 2023 roles on both these committees. If you intend to nominate, please note, you are required to attend the AGM. Please do try to come along and support our valuable school committees.
May you enjoy the weekend ahead...the sun is just around the corner!

What's been happening in Year 4
Yesterday the Year 4 class had an amazing action packed excursion. Their first stop was a visit to to see Sam Caporn with his horses. Sam is a specialist in Horsemanship, this involves creating a relationship with horses and the children all learnt about the importance of using our energy to calm a horse and how to treat them with respect. We learnt a lot about why horses behave the way they do.
Then we travelled to Newton's Brothers Packing Shed in Manjimup where we learnt about the different types of apples grown in our region, how they are sorted, washed and packaged. We learned that a lot of fruit is considered rubbish by Coles because it is slightly bruised or not red enough! So Nic Giblett from Newtons encouraged us to 'Choose the Bruise', when we are shopping. Help farmers out by choosing the fruit that does not look perfect. Simply cut the imperfections away!
Our last stop was to the Power Up Museum - a fun look at the history of electricity and a play at the Timber Park.
What a fabulous day!
Mrs Kristo, Y4 Teacher.
Year 1 'Grandparents' afternoon tea
The Year 1 class treated their grandparents to a lovely afternoon last Friday. Linked to the History Learning Area, the class took the time to research historical events and objects and then asked some questions of their grandparents. It was lovely to see the interactions occuring between families. Once the hard work was out of the way, the class served afternoon tea. Thank you to the class and all grandparents who managed to make this event.
St Vinnies Christmas hampers
It's that time of year again! We will soon be requesting specific items of food from each class which will be put towards the annual St Vinnies hampers. In the past, St Brigid's School community has donated many items to this great initiative. Watch this space about what you will be asked to donate!
